I took a large piece of foamcore and covered it with the same metallic paper to make a much larger reflector and tested it from about 1 foot away on the left side from the 2nd shot. This was shot with bounce flash from the Nikon SB-700 from the wall to the right. With the reflector, it bounces back on the side of Koromo and the lighting is much better on the other side of her.

This stuff is fun to experiment with! I hope I’ll be able to apply it to my portraits 🙂

I’ve been experimenting a lot with lighting lately and how to make my pictures better by manipulating available light.

I made a reflector by placing some faux metallic contact paper on a piece of cardboard. I found that the reflected light was not very even with just that so I hit the paper with a 1000 grit abralon pad to cause some diffusion and had a much better result after that!

The top picture was without the reflector and the bottom picture was with the reflector to the left, out of the frame. Both were taken with no flash and with a single light coming from the right.
